Chili-for-Charity 2022 Recap

On Veteran’s Day 2022, Nyla Technology Solutions held its 6th Annual Chili-for-Charity event raising money for K9s for Warriors. The mission for K9s for Warriors is to end veteran suicide and return our Warriors to a life of dignity and independence. They rescue and train shelter dogs to be paired as Service Dogs for Warriors with service-connected Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma. They are the nation’s largest provider of Service Dogs for disabled American veterans. K9s For Warriors is a tax-exempt 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.

This year we were back to in-person and ten small businesses gathered to compete for the coveted title of Chili Master while raising money for a needed cause. This year’s competition, held at Lost Ark Distilling, in Columbia, MD was a massive success as a packed house of chili connoisseurs came together to support a very worthy cause and enjoy some delicious food.

While at the event, attendees could sample each of the small business competitors’ special chili with their own unique take on the classic dish. Some standouts included a spicy-vegetarian chili, a hearty con carne, and a chili verde with a kick. No matter your preference, there was something for everyone to enjoy, and the friendly banter between all the proud chefs representing their companies just added to the fun.

The Small Business contenders were Akina, Applied Network Solutions, Dobbs Defense, Evlos, Mesavita, Nisus, Omega Minds, Peterson Technologies, Plex, and Synergist. After all the testing was over, the winner was announced, and Evlos won with their Texas-style chile con carne named “Mucho Mucho Meaty Spiciness” A digital copy of their recipe is available for a $25 donation to K9s for Warriors.

Chili for Charity once again proved an excellent way for Nyla Technology Solutions to continue to give back to our veterans by donating over $7,000 to K9s for Warriors Charity. We can’t wait to see what we can accomplish next year as more and more local businesses step up their game for both pride and a great cause!
